BIOGRAPHIE
Born in 1954, Rancelot is a French artist who had her childhood cradled by art through the practice of drawing and the sculptural work of her grandfather.
She studied at the Beaux Arts in Lille and developed in contact with associative and artistic circles.
The artist comes to figuration with a study on the human body, on the notion of time and the place of humans through centuries and technological progress. After having held her studio gallery in Vieux Lille from 1998 to 2009, she has now set up her new studio near Bordeaux.
‘I paint trying to be honest, about what is important to me, that appeals to me and that seems to me to be aesthetic. I have a particular interest in humans in motion.’
Her new “Jungle” series questions the theme of dreams and reality. She integrates her little swimmers into real or illusory landscapes which plunge the viewer into an imaginary universe.
