MARIE SAKSIK

Lives and works in Rochefort-du-Gard
Trained at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Aix-en-Provence, Marie Saksik holds a Master’s degree in Visual Arts. A certified art teacher, she has always combined her educational vocation with a deeply personal artistic practice. A passionate painter and draughtswoman, she naturally turned to sculpture, which she approaches as a self-taught artist.

Her work revolves around the female figure, explored with a singular softness and a keen attention to curves and posture. Each piece celebrates sensuality, the fullness of form, and bodily freedom. By shaping clay with remarkable finesse—often cast in bronze—Marie Saksik gives rise to powerful, serene silhouettes that strike a subtle balance between strength and vulnerability.

The artist has developed a distinctive visual language, imbued with serenity and timelessness. Her sculptures invite slow contemplation, gently affirming a confident vision of femininity, far removed from conventions and societal norms.

Her work is regularly exhibited in France and abroad and is part of numerous private collections. She has received several distinctions, including the Bronze Medal at the Salon des Artistes Français at the Grand Palais in 2015, the Pewter Medal from the Académie des Arts, Sciences et Lettres in Paris in 2016, and the Silver Medal from the same institution in 2021, as well as the silver medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in 2023.
