JEAN-LUC MANIOULOUX

Born in southern France, Jean-Luc Maniouloux grew up surrounded by light and nature before moving to Paris to study advertising and graphic design. Driven by a deep curiosity, he often wandered through the galleries of the Natural History Museum and the city’s old curiosity shops, discovering a world that would later inspire his art — the intricate and fascinating realm of insects.
After a successful career in advertising and illustration for major publishing houses, he turned his focus entirely toward artistic creation. Blending design, sculpture, and poetic imagery, his distinctive work soon captured the attention of collectors and galleries both in France and abroad. Today, his pieces are part of numerous private collections across the five continents.
In his creations, Maniouloux stages naturalized insects as protagonists in delicate, miniature narratives — humorous, ironic, and deeply human. Through their fragile power, these tiny beings subtly challenge our manufactured world, reminding us of the tenuous balance between nature and artifice.
His art captures fleeting moments — a suspended flight, a bursting light bulb, the silent flutter of wings — where time itself seems to pause. Each composition freezes an instant of life with the precision of a photographer and the sensitivity of a poet.
Now based in Paris, Jean-Luc Maniouloux works from a charming studio surrounded by a small garden, home to bees and butterflies alike — a peaceful sanctuary where, as in his work, nature is always respected and alive.
